“Our mission concept is to go where there is a need. Our charism is steeped in the heart of Jesus. It is one of courage, and knowing that all people are our brothers and sisters.”
Cabrini missioners serve full-time in Cabrini missions and live in community with the Missionary Sisters, sharing in their lives as all learn from one another. It is this mutuality among missioners, Sisters and those served that is most memorable to Sr. Lucille Souza, MSC, the first CMC Director. “This is a life-changing experience for everyone involved. It changes lives forever.”
“Flexibility is a hallmark. It’s what we call in Italian ‘disponibilitá’ – to be available, to be ready to be sent. Can you be open to what the need is? We are looking for that generosity of spirit.”
Who Cabrini Missioners Are: In the spirit of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, missioners are people who are bold and courageous in striving for solidarity with others around the world, especially the poor and marginalized. Like Mother Cabrini, CMC missioners are drawn to the heart of Jesus and His love and compassion for humanity. They collaborate with the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in bringing the love and mercy of Jesus into every situation in which they minister. CMC missioners are committed in full-time service and live in community, sharing their lives, learning from one another. They are committed to a journey in faith and to promoting gospel values in everyday life. They strive for personal growth through prayer, community and ministry and a simple lifestyle. CMC missioners want to experience the meaning of the phrase: I can do all things in God who strengthens me. Phil 4:13.
“Cabrini missioners become part of a tradition of spirituality in action as they participate in the Cabrinian mission “to be bearers of the love of Christ in the world” by striving to live a message of love and compassion.”
Cabrini Missioners Making A Difference: For over 125 years, the MSCs and their lay collaborators have made a difference in people’s lives worldwide. Concern for the promotion of human development and social justice, respect for the dignity of women as well as life in all its stages, and opting to serve the poor and disadvantaged characterize their rich tradition. Cabrini missioners become part of this tradition of spirituality in action as they participate in the Cabrinian mission “to be bearers of the love of Christ in the world” by striving to live a message of love and compassion.
